• Bursaries to help with living costs and study materials.
  • Performance-related cash awards for good grades.
  • Real, hands-on work experience on up to two paid summer internships.
  • Access to advice and support from a dedicated mentor.
  • The opportunity to build relationships with future employers.
  • End of course excellence awards for top scholars.
  • A chance to learn valuable transferable skills and boost your employability through lectures, workshops and events run by Lloyds Banking Group.

In return for all the great benefits you enjoy as a Lloyds Scholar, we ask that you do two things that will make a big difference to future students and your local community.

1. Volunteer in Your Local Community - We ask that you take part in at least 100 hours volunteering in your local community each year.

2. Champion the Programme to Future Applicants - As someone who's been through the process you'll be in a great position to offer help and advice.

Become a Lloyds Scholar and commit to completing at least 100 hours' volunteering in your local community each academic year.

This is a really rewarding experience and a great way to get involved in what's happening in your area, challenge yourself and gain the transferable skills so valued by employers.

Completing 100 hours may sound daunting, however it is achievable. Start early, make the most of the support available from your university’s volunteering team and be proactive with your time, especially early on in the academic year.

Your mentor can provide general support and advice throughout your experience and give you a real insight into Lloyds Banking Group. This is particularly useful when selecting the workstream for your internship. The mentoring relationship gives you unique access to a member of our senior team and the opportunity to understand and experience different areas of our diverse business.

Our current Lloyds Scholars feel this relationship is an invaluable part of the programme and both Mentors and Scholars have found it to be very rewarding.

As a Lloyds Scholar you will be offered two ten week paid internships at Lloyds, for which you will receive a pro-rated salary of approximately £18,000. One of your internships must be taken during the summer holiday before your final year.

Internships are a great way to earn extra money during your summer holidays, providing invaluable work experience and direct exposure to the Group.

If you think you might be interested in joining our Lloyds Banking Group Graduate Leadership Programme (GLP) your second internship in particular is your chance to prove yourself to the business.

Lloyds Banking Group is a leading UK bank serving the needs of over 30 million customers across our large and diversified customer base.

Our renowned brands include Lloyds TSB, Halifax, Bank of Scotland and Scottish Widows – some of the most respected names in financial services. We also operate an international banking business with a global footprint in over 30 countries.

Lloyds Banking Group was formed in January 2009, following the acquisition of HBOS by Lloyds TSB. Our main business activities are retail, commercial and corporate banking, general insurance and life, pensions and investment provision.

Our vision is to build a sustainable future for our business; by putting customers at the heart of everything we do and by playing a constructive part in the prosperity of the communities we serve.

We want to be recognised as the best bank in the UK by investing where we can make a real difference for customers and communities.

To be the best bank for families, businesses and communities, we must also be the best bank for our employees – a place where people want to come and work, and a place that employees would recommend to friends and family.

We are a business based on building deep and lasting relationships with our customers through the efforts of our people. We want our people to be advocates of the bank and its products and to take pride in providing a great service to customers.

We are creating an organisation that attracts, retains and develops the best talent, and one that embraces diversity too.

We serve the financial needs of over 30 million customers. That means we touch almost every community in the country. We look after their everyday banking needs, their savings and investments; provide mortgages so they can buy their homes; provide loans to buy cars and other goods; and offer insurance for their homes an possessions. That is a great responsibility, and one we take very seriously.

Every day, we provide these services through our branches, which are at the heart of communities across the UK. We know that the success and sustainability of our business is linked to the prosperity of these communities. We, therefore, need to play a constructive part in their future prosperity.

Lloyds Banking Group is committed to creating an inclusive organisation which values difference. We welcome applications from all people regardless of race, religion or belief, gender, disability or sexual orientation. You can find out more on the Lloyds Banking Group website.
